Our Vision Our work not only enhances our own lives but others' lives as well, by strengthening and enlivening local culture. We believe that whenever Community provides a hospitable setting, by nurturing balanced individual and spiritual development within a real world setting, the result is a treasure to cherish for all human kind. We all benefit wherever "safe-havens" of Community are created, where conflict and diverse views can be transformed into mutual respect and cooperation. Our Purpose We offer community-building events, workshops and cooperatives as well as other educational and experiential events, focusing on areas such as green technology, permanent agriculture, and living authentic and meaningful lives. Such experiences may seem small at first but they can move quietly through our lives, like ripples touching others, and transforming our mundane existences into our ideal of Sustainable Community. Why We Came To Be
The Foundation For Sustainable Community was formally organized and recognized as a 501(c)(3) in the summer of 2005. The founders and board members have been working in green building, farming, permaculture, community-building and social activism for decades. The foundation was created to support and promote the building of sustainable communities around the world. We are committed to fostering harmonious relationships that honor the natural world and humanity.
